FLL Team

October 23, 2015 - December 5, 2015

This year we mentored an FLL team located at Orchard Park P.S.: Just Us League, Fantastic 4X2, and the Revenger’s. This year the teams at Orchard Park won some awards at the competition they attended in December. The following teams won the following awards: Just Us League – Inventive Design Award, 3rd place Fantastic 4X2, Gracious Professionalism Award The Revenger’s, Teamwork award We are very proud of their success and to have mentored such fantastic kids!

Grade 8 Tour Day

Every year Banting gives tours to all of our feeder schools, which includes presentations from all the clubs and teams at Banting as well as some of the courses offered at Banting. League of Logic presented in the technology presentation as well as the club fair to these grade 8 students.

Junior FLL

January 9, 2016 - March 5, 2016

Members of League of Logic volunteer to host FIRST London FLL competition, helped teams prep, talked about FIRST Robotics opportunities. League of Logic mentors teams: 4870 Brainstormers, 5973 Team Coffee, 5974 Snowboarding Cats, 5975 Mysterious Robot Lions, 5976 The Lego Robots -Association for Bright Children.

Grade 8 Parent Night

Banting hosts a night every January for future Broncos and their parents to see what the school has to offer, and League of Logic again participated in this event! We presented what can be done in our club as well as in some of the courses taught at Banting.

Science Expo

February 27, 2016

League of Logic attended Raider Robotics 5024’s Science Expo and taught kids about lego mindstorms as well as taught kids how to drive our robot. Boys and Girls Club

March 11, 2016 @ 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

At the boys and girls club, League of Logic gave presentations to children from the ages 6-13 about engineering, then dis interactive exercises using lego mindstorms so that they could have a chance to understand what we teach them during the lessons. We also showed off our Stronghold robot. Student groups ranged from 10 to 15 students.

STEAM Program and Summer Camp Expo

The team ran several Hour of Code Scratch Workshop sessions for students, parents, teachers and educators at the Wortley Road Public School STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) Play Event. We had informational sessions about the importance of coding in the modern world, a workshop where those who attended were able to code their own video games from start to finish, and we also had a booth set up with LEGO Mindstorms robots on display, with information about FIRST Robotics…

Library Conference (Education Week)

May 2, 2016 - May 6, 2016

As an upcoming event, League of Logic will be hosting a conference in Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School’s library during lunch and during class for students, teachers, and other members of the Banting community. Some events and workshops that we will be running are LEGO Mindstorms introduction to robotics and Hour of Code sessions using Scratch.

May 6, 2016 - May 7, 2016

WILDCARD is an event put on by our high school annually for incoming  grade 8 students in the surrounding area. The goal of this event is to get the students excited for high school, and make them more comfortable with the idea of switching schools. This year League of Logic will be putting on a Robotics Expo event, to promote science and technology, while also garnering interest in our team for the potential future members.

Last year we presented to incoming grade 8’s that would be attending our school next year. Many of our grade nine’s this year fondly remember this demonstration and we hope to make this an annual presentation.
